The Honda Ski Tour: Sun Valley III

You might have noticed that there have been some recent festival changes for The Honda Ski Tour. Here are the sponsor and musical updates to help keep you in the loop.

First, The Ski Tour (TST) as of December 19, 2006, is now officially The Honda Ski Tour (THST). That is quite a nice sponsorship accomplishment attached to the freshman festival! Congrats!

There are also some musical updates to THST. On Saturday, January 13, 2007 Finger Eleven and Black Stone Cherry will be live at the nexStage. I mentioned in an earlier blog that the nexStage has some of the best equipment and acoustics in town. Finger Eleven and Black Stone Cherry are slated for the 8pm-11pm slot.

The big musical addition to THST is Tommy Lee. If you have never seen Tommy Lee do his DJ thing, don’t expect a tribute to Mötley Crüe. Nope, Tommy Lee gets up there and scratches with fierce hip-hop flare to rival the best DJs around. Look for him to also jam on various percussion instruments, both traditional as well as the more eclectic.

Tommy Lee is playing on Sunday, January 14, 2007 from 10pm-2am. Here is the catch, Tommy Lee is the DJ for a V.I.P. Party that is apparently being held at some ambiguous mansion. There are rumors floating all around Sun Valley that tickets maybe purchased via auction only. I tried to check this out on THST website and was redirected to Ticketmaster’s website. There were however, no tickets or auctions listed for Tommy Lee on January 14th.

You can purchase an all access music pass for $99.00 on ticketweb.com. I doubt this covers the Tommy Lee DJ V.I.P. Party, but as I said on an earlier blog the festival organizers are well, not very organized. In fact, on THST Schedule Event page, Eleventh Finger and Blackstone Cherries are listed as the new musical groups for January 13th, not Finger Eleven and Black Stone Cherry. I believe Eleventh Finger is a classical music group? A classical recital would definitely be an odd pairing with all the other scheduled groups? However, both Finger Eleven and Black Stone Cherry are confirmed on their official websites.

Good luck getting Tommy Lee tickets. I’ll keep you posted if I hear anything!
