When someone first told me about Bogus Basin, a ski mountain that was just 16 miles from downtown Boise, Idaho, I was skeptical to say the least. I’m from New Jersey, so I equated skiing Bogus Basin to the Pocono Mountains. For a quick run or two I was always happy to take a short drive to the Poconos, but I’d rather be skiing Killington, Vermont. I mean there is skiing and then there is SKIING! However, I very humbly admit that I was completely jaded and wrong.
It’s true, Bogus Basin is just a short ride up the mountain from downtown Boise. One could even suggest, and I will, that a business traveler take the day or night off (there is night skiing too), and head up for some skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing or even tubing (no, it’s not just for kids anymore).
Bogus Basin’s night skiing session is every night from 4p.m.-10p.m. Their Valleywide Bus cost just $11.00 for round-trip service and has many drop-off and pickup locations throughout Boise. Check out: Bogus Basin for all the details.
For the more upscale business traveler, try The Grove Hotel. Maybe, if you plan your vacation away from business right, you can even catch an Idaho Steelheads hockey game (the Dallas Stars minor league team). After all, the Idaho Steelheads Arena is directly attached to The Grove Hotel. Enjoy!
Go to: Idaho Steelheads for their hockey schedule. Check out: The Grove Hotel for rates and more information.
