Montana Great FallsGreat Falls, located in central Montana, is considered the “Western Art Capital of the World”, hosting an Art Walk on Fridays. Named after a large drop along the Missouri River, creating several vertical waterfalls, the city celebrates the 4th of July with events like live music and fireworks. The Great Falls Hometown Fourth of July celebration take places in downtown Great Falls with an Independence Day Parade at 11:00 a.m. The fireworks display is held at the Turner Farm at dusk. WhitefishWhitefish, Montana, located only a short distance from Glacier National Park, is a small town surrounded by numerous opportunities for recreation. On the Fourth of July, Whitefish Lake City Beach is where the activities happen. Beginning at 11:00 a.m., visitors can rent boats or enjoy live music along the lakeshore. The fireworks display is launched over the lake, producing glitters and shimmers over Whitefish Lake. ButteButte’s Freedom Fest is held from July 1-3. The events include Huck Finn/Pollyanna Day, concerts, street dance, parade, fireworks display, veterans' picnic and patriotic ceremonies. Fireworks are set off on the 3rd of July, the last day of the festival in Butte, Montana. MissoulaSouthgate Mall in Missoula hosts a spectacular 4th of July celebration and fireworks display. Guests watch in awe, with special 3-D fireworks glasses. The Southgate Mall is located on U.S. Highway West 112. Missoula is located near the Rattlesnake Wilderness and Rattlesnake National Recreation Area. Wyoming Jackson HoleCelebrate the 4th of July with a fireworks display by the Jackson Hole Jaycees held at Snow King Mountain. Events of the day include a grand parade, food and Music in the Hole. With close proximity to Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park, Jackson Hole offers exciting outdoor adventures and a look back to times of the Old West. Watch an old west shootout, performed by the Jackson Hole Shootout Gang, involved in a vigorous gunfight. CheyenneVisit Downtown Cheyenne for festivities on the 4th of July. The Cheyenne Depot Museum’s 4th of July Celebration is held at the Historic Depot Plaza, a beautiful historic railroad station. Events included concerts, a children’s parade and events, and a patriotic costume contest. PinedaleLocated about 80 miles south of Jackson Hole in the Upper Green River, the town of Pinedale enjoys celebrations. The Big Piney Chuckwagon Days runs from the 2nd through the 4th of July. Festivities include rodeo and bull-riding events, a street dance, town BBQ and community picnic. The fireworks begin at dusk. Stay in Pinedale for the Green River Rendezvous, occurring the 2nd full weekend in July. Celebrate early Mountain Man history with fur trading lectures and demonstrations, parade and other historical presentations. Enjoy seeing authentic costumes at the Rendezvous Pageant, which takes place just outside of Pinedale. GilletteThe big events in Gillette don't get started until a full month after Independence Day. This year Gillette, Wyoming will host the PGI or Pyrotechnics Guild International, Inc Conference from August 9th to 16th. Named the Wyoming Firefest 2008, the 3-day events is considered the largest fireworks show in the country. The fireworks show is held at the CAM-PLEX Events Center, including room for camping across the street.
